More About The Dog Herbalist
Hi, I’m Elaine, also known as The Dog Herbalist. My love for dogs and nature has been at the heart of my life for as long as I can remember. As a child, I was endlessly fascinated by wildflowers and herbs, marveling at their beauty and the extraordinary healing power they hold. This early curiosity sparked a lifelong passion for understanding how nature can nurture, heal, and improve the lives of the animals we love so dearly.
In my 20s, I began showing and breeding cocker spaniels, and that’s where my journey into the world of dogs truly began. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with a variety of incredible breeds, including beagles, poodles, retrievers, and cavaliers. Each breed brought its own unique charm and challenges, deepening my understanding of their individual needs and the special bond they share with their humans.
My love for dogs led me to pursue professional qualifications in dog grooming during my 30s. I ran my own grooming salon, where I spent countless hours helping dogs look and feel their best. Grooming wasn’t just about appearances for me—it was about creating a safe, calming environment where dogs could feel cared for and loved. I also gained experience as a dog show judge, which gave me the opportunity to celebrate the beauty and diversity of different breeds.
Beyond grooming, I expanded my expertise to include animal pregnancy scanning, microchipping, and puppy whelping services. I’ve always been passionate about supporting dogs and their owners through every stage of life, from birth to old age. These experiences gave me a deeper insight into the health and well-being of dogs, which eventually became the foundation for my work as The Dog Herbalist.
In 2012, I took a leap of faith and founded The Dog Herbalist, combining my love for dogs with my growing knowledge of natural remedies. I wanted to create a space where dog owners could turn to for safe, effective, and natural solutions tailored to their pets’ unique needs. Every remedy I craft is made to order, ensuring it’s perfectly suited to the dog it’s intended for. Whether it’s supporting a dog through anxiety, skin issues, or general wellness, I take immense pride in creating herbal solutions that make a real difference in their lives.
Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to connect with a global community of dog lovers who trust me to help their pets thrive. Sharing my knowledge is something I hold close to my heart, which is we regularly post on social media, participate in events, and provide free resources to make natural pet care accessible to everyone.
In 2025, I had the incredible opportunity to have my golden retriever puppies featured on ITV’s This Morning for Blue Monday. It was a moment of pure joy. Our puppy boy Elvis was serenaded by the incredible Shane Ward!
Today, I work closely with my daughter Laura, who manages marketing and social media for The Dog Herbalist. Together, we’re building a community that celebrates the bond between dogs and their humans while promoting the benefits of natural, holistic care.
For me, being The Dog Herbalist isn’t just a career—it’s a calling. My mission is simple: to harness the incredible power of nature to care for our furry companions, ensuring they live long, happy, and healthy lives.
